با اعلام لیست برنده های رویداد The Game Awards 2021، بازی It Takes Two به عنوان بهترین بازی سال ۲۰۲۱ در این مراسم انتخاب شد.
پس از اعلام نامزدهای رویداد The Game Awards 2021، شایعات فراوانی پیرامون انتخاب بهترین بازی سال ۲۰۲۱ در این رویداد به راه افتاده بود. با این وجود، شب گذشته، این رویداد رسما برگزار شد و برندگان جایزه The Game Awards 2021 در هر رشته مشخص شدند. علاوه بر این، مطابق همیشه، این رویداد با رونمایی از تعداد زیادی عناوین بزرگ و شناخته شده همراه بود.
در این رویداد، بازی It Takes Two که توسط EA منتشر شده است، سرانجام به عنوان برترین بازی سال شناخته شد و ضمن تصاحب این عنوان، جایزه بهترین بازی برای خانواده و بهترین بازی مالتی پلیر را نیز از آن خود کرد. همچنین، Deathloop نیز عملکرد بسیار خوبی را از خود به جای گذاشت و موفق به دریافت جایزه بهترین کارگردانی و بهترین کارگردانی هنری شد. همچنین، بازی Forza Horizon 5 مایکروسافت هم در شمار عناوین موفق رویداد امسال قرار گرفت و با کسب جوایز برترین طراحی صوتی، برترین بازی ورزشی/رانندگی و برترین نوآوری در Accessibility سال را به خوبی به اتمام رساند.
در کنار معرفی بهترین عناوین در دسته های گوناگون، بازی های بزرگی نظیر Star Wars Eclipse از استودیوی Quantic Dream، Wonder Woman از استودیو Monolith و Alan Wake 2 تنها بخشی از بازی های بزرگی به شمار می روند که در این رویداد به طور رسمی رونمایی و معرفی شدند.
